What is Fen-Phen?

Fen-Phen is the common name given to the drug combinations of fenfluramine and phentermine. Both had been approved the FDA as short-term use appetite suppressants for many years. Fenfluramine was approved in 1973 and phentermine was approved in 1959. Fen-Phen works by regulating the seratonin levels in the body. Redux (dexfenfluramine) is another brand name appetite suppressant marketed by Wyeth Laboratories.
