Health Canada officials banned Adderall on February 9, 2005 after reports linked Adderall XR to 20 fatalities, 14 of them children, and a dozen strokes. None of these adverse reactions were caused by overdose or misuse of Aderall. More common side effects of Adderall include anorexia, insomnia, abdominal pain, emotional liability, nervousness, minor skin rashes, and convulsions. Because Adderall is made from amphetamine, it can elevate your heart rate and raise blood pressure to dangerous levels.
Has Adderall been banned in the United States? No, Adderall has not been banned in the United States. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has reviewed the same reports as the Canadian health regulators and decided to keep Adderall available for sale. A Shire spokesperson has said that the company remains confident in the safety of Adderall.
